So, uh, I've finally been writing again! I'm still determined to get the Changes sequel and prequel done, y'see. This bit in particular is from the prequel. There is a minor spoiler in it, but it's only for the first chapter of the fic, so I'm posting it out in the open. =D

So, as I spammed Twitter about, I've been re-reading the Archie!Sonic comics. I'm trying to update a character (Antoine) I play in a private RP to current day, and we recently got a Sally too, so I'm reading from the original miniseries to Endgame, maybe a bit past that, AND reading from the LOL XORDA bits to present day, and I must say, it's a HEADTRIP. I've been reading the early ones in digest form at work, then reading scanned issues at home because I'm too lazy to get the paper ones out, and going back and forth will make you go, "... is this the same comic?! O.o"

You can really see what got retconned and what amazingly stayed canon. Antoine was always the oldest, but early on it said he was actually in COLLEGE and served the king for a while. That's... yeah. A far cry from him being a kid when the coup took place. And how the coup took place... The early ones went "LOL HE JUST PRANKED SONIC AND THEN TOOK OVER", but then it took the SatAM course in later issues. And then Geoffrey St. John. Just... Geoffrey St. John. From this slimy sort of guy you want to Falcon Punch and Ant actually did Falcon Punch him at one point YEEEEEEEEEEEEEE to... Well, he's still not particularly likable, but I wanted to punch him a lot less after he got with Hershey. And after looking at Endgame Director's Cut again, I think Hershey could take him in a fight.

You can also see how it gradually got serious over time, too. It didn't just go from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog wackiness to SatAM seriousness to LOLOL CALL WHINE ONE ONE WE NEED AN WAAAAAAAAAAHMBULANCE FOR SALLY overnight. You could see where they actually started having continuity, although the antics were still present up to where I left off in the past comics (#24). Even with the continuity, it's still jarring to go from that much wackiness to YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BUNTWAN WEDDING issue #174 holy shit #175. If not for things like the Cosmic Interstate and the man who would later be known as Scourge, you could probably throw everything before, oh, issue #16 out of canon.

So, having the first two Star Ocean games out for the PSP finally made me break down and get one. And you know what?

Along with the game that came with it (Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters) and the two Star Ocean games, I found you could download old PS1 games onto it. And THEY HAD THE FIRST TWO WILD ARMS GAMES. And the first Suikoden. And Jumping Flash! 1. And there were more games but I was too cheap to get them and shfkl;dhfklsdhfkhkhPORTABLE WILD ARMS YES. I love the series so much and then I also have to find a place to get Wild Arms XF and and and EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

While I'm posting, My World My Way. It is grindtastic, the last boss is sadistic, and the ending's way too short. So why the hell did I enjoy it for the most part? It's everything in RPGs that pisses me off! Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for RPGs that poke fun at themselves. See also: Okage: Shadow King. There's too many damned encounters, which also seriously pisses me off, but I love the game so much. SO MUCH. Oh, Ari, how I love being able to make you a nice guy, a doormat, or a total jerk. <3

Also trying to wrap up the rest of Chrono Trigger DS. Had to look up an ending list, because I had completely forgotten how I had got all the endings in the PS port. Got one of the main endings, tho'! I ended up going with Lucca, Marle, and Frog in against Lavos instead of Lucca, Marle, and Crono as usual, and fhsdlkfah;dlfhlsdhFROG. The line about wanting Cyrus's spirit with him in the battle was just so sweet! <3 <3 <3

After this game, I think I'm gonna hit up Avalon Code because, clearly, I'm also a sucker for RPGs where you can affect character relationships. See also: Luminous Arc 1 and 2, Star Ocean 2 and 3, and Okage: Shadow King, to a degree.

... dammit, now I wanna replay Okage.

Anyway, been playing Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume. Man, New Game+ makes everything way too easy. Oh well, less struggle to see all the endings. And holy crap, endings I've seen so far. fskdhfskl;dhfklh. You ENJOY breaking my heart, don't you, game? Not that I didn't see the twists in the last battles coming. But still. ;~;

Lockswell and Cheripha make me insanely happy and I'm not sure why. I am officially 100% wisdom tooth-free now! I got two on one side out back in January and just got the other two out today. I'm pretty lucky, really; normal, over-the-counter ibuprofen killed the pain in both cases. I'm still a little "buh", tho', but that's no big deal.

Been replaying Grandia II lately! I had forgotten how much I adored Ryudo and Millenia. Through the whole game so far, I've been going either "djkhsflkhILU, RYUDO" or "fdjkshflhILU, MILLENIA", depending on which one of them is being awesome at the time. I love my snarky, atheist Geohound and surprisingly cute incarnation of evil. And Roan! What can I say, I have a weakness for the cute one, especially if they're superfast DEATH NINJAS. Fast characters FTW.
